Tom West Redlands 2009 Tour

Only 4 days until the tour kicks off now. Probably won't have much time to post big updates, but I'll try to when I can. For more updates follow the Aussie_Ball Redlands twitter (http://twitter.com/Aussie_Ball) or my twitter which I will update every day (http://twitter.com/WestyQld2). Also, I shall be taking an unlocked mobile to the US, so I will post the number of the phone when we get over there so you can message or call the rest of the team. I doubt any parents will miss them anyway! Continue

Tom West Redlands Tour

Sorry guys for the lack of updates, the tour has just been non-stop. The tournament finished on Saturday, 5th of July where the team won both their games. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the U16's, who their second game by a single run and their third game also by one run in the last inning. Needing to win the fourth and fifth game to force a 2-2 series, the Expo's had come down from 3-8 to level the game 8-8 in the bottom of the 7th with loaded bases and 2 out, before Mitch Daly hit a deep… Continue

Tom West Game 1, Redlands

Today was a late start of midday for the Expo's players before a two hour training clinic was taken place at Redlands High School fields in searing heat, with a couple of players feeling the heat with dehydration. By 5:30pm, the players were rested and ready to have the first match of the tournament with the U16's players kicking off. Nathan Hass started the pitching effort and came off after two innings with a sore elbow, but conceding no runs. Nathan Huang then came on to relieve, battling de… Continue

Tom West First Days

The first few days of the Expo's seem like a blur now, the mix of excitment and lack of sleep jumped upon us and before we knew it, we were at Redlands. Highlights being Oakland vs Phillies, the tour of AT&T park, seeing a historic baseball game, via limosine, with the Anaheim Angels pitching a no hitter and still losing 1-0 to the LA Dodgers at LA. Today we got to Redlands off the bus from Chic's sporting goods where the team spent thousands of dollars on baseball gear in preperation for t… Continue

Dan Calder 4th of july

Independence day, all the players had the entire day to themselves with heir hosts. So far everyone I've bumped into has had a great day, enjoying the experience that is Independence day.

Everyone is in panic stations now pulling together the final pack before tomorrow's departure. We leave Redlands at 11am and have a few hours at Venice beach before we leave the airport at 930pm. Just in case: we arrive in Brisbane on Sat July 7th at 8:30am. It will take approximately an hour for the

Dan Calder Redlands Training Clinic

Today we participated in a short training clinic at the Redlands High School. The clinic worked over the machinics behind baseballs' short game. Bunting, stealing, base running and PFP (Pitcher Feilding Practice). We finnished the clinic with a quick gorund ball session.

The day concluded with the closing cerimony at the Moose Lodge. Everyone had an amasing day and is looking foward to seeing the celebrations tomorrow.

Dan Calder Redlands Game 4

Expos win the last game in Redlands with a convincing comeback win over the hosts. Joe and Tim combined to pull back the 909ers after a 7 run first innings. The Expos were able to put it all together matching great defence with solid aggressive offence to bring the series to a tie.
Everyone was pleased the team was able to over power the home team and pull together a final win. The Uncle Howie's Pizza party was a blast everyone got a chance to publicly thank their hosts and the b

Dan Calder Redlands Game 3

A thriller right to the end. Expos win in the bottom of the 7th innings, 12 - 11 . The expos staged another comeback after the 909ers got out to an early lead. Nicky was struck by a pitch on her hand, x-rays revealed it's broken. She'll be in a soft cast for 6 weeks. Noel was really impressed with the players spirit and comeback.

Dan Calder Training clinic at San Pedro

A training clinic for baseball, without the baseball? Yes that’s right not a single baseball was thrown today, the clinic worked us through drills. Drills to develop better pitching, catching, and faster feet. Everyone was feeling the ‘burn’ after working with medicine balls, aerobic balls, rope ladders and sprinting.

Dan Calder Game 1 San Pedro

Due to some poor directions and estimations we got lost on our way down to San Pedro, and still arived over an hour early. We played the San Pedro High School Pirates and although all players played well we lost 5-0.

All the players went home with their hosts before returning to one of the coaches house for a BBQ dinner and party. All the hosts put in for a massive feast with ribs, steak and salads. Everyone was leaving early to get some sleep before the clinic tomorrow.

Dan Calder Game 3 Anahiem - Rebels

OUR GAME AGAINST ANAHEIM REBELS

Dan Calder Game 2 Anaheim

Today’s Game against Loara high school resulted in a loss. None of the players gave up and were able to hold their heads high. They learnt valuable lessons to help them develop as players. The coach from the opposing team was rather impressed with a couple of our players and we are looking forward to our game tomorrow against the Anaheim Rebels at the Loara high school baseball ground.
