- G’day, I am Jesse Michel I will be turning 15 on July 28th this year. I
live in the small township of Maleny on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland with my Mum and Dad and my two dogs Angel and Marvin, my older brother Ryan lives and goes to university in Rockhampton 600 km north.
I started playing baseball as a first year under 12 in 2001 and was
named Rookie of the Year that season. Since then I have gone on to play club ball and represented the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Schoolboys. I have also been selected on the Queensland Training Squad and played in the National Regional Youth Championships. In 2005 and 2006 I was selected for the Brisbane All Stars team and have gone on to Umpire junior ball and last summer coached a teeball team.
Where we live is a small township, we don’t have large shopping centers (malls), not even a movie theatre however that does not stop my friends and I having fun. Mainly we just hang out together, ride our bikes and skateboard at the skate park. In summer we sometimes go to the beach which is about a 40 minute drive but we prefer Gardeners Falls which is local.
This opportunity to go to the USA is a realisation of one of my dreams
and I am looking forward to meeting new friends, hopefully life long
ones. My main dream in life is to play Major League Baseball and I know that I will benefit greatly from this trip on my journey in life.
