The 2007 Australian Brisbane Expos Tour to California, USA - June 15-July 7 - promises to be as successful as those in the past.
The program was founded in 1990 in association with the Redlands California baseball community and we are indebted to this group of Americans who open their hearts and homes to their Australian friends and adopted families.
The Brisbane Expos players are scouted at club level and selected on the 3 A's. A for attitude, A for Ability and A for what the plaers will achieve. Hundreds of players have travelled to the USA with this program. Some of these players have gone on to represent the state of Queensland or to be members of an Australian team for their representative age. A number of players have been invited to further their education in high schools and colleges in the USA.
Furthermore, a number of these players have signed contracts with professional baseball organisations.
The major benefit to players and supporters of the tour is to experience the cultural exchange with the host families and organisations we meet while in the United States of America.
Any person who has been on an Expos tour will gladly report to you on the benefits and life experiences associated with this tour. It's a privilege to be a part of this baseball program. Unfortunately, I am unable to travel with the tour this year, but my thoughts are with the 18th annual tour to Redlands, California.
